A cold chain is a temperature-controlled supply chain, which involves constant refrigeration of the product from the time of production through its transportation, handling, storage, and delivery. It is required to preserve and maintain the products which will be used in the future like food items, chemicals, and now pharmaceutical products are increasing. India is the largest producer and leader of the various agricultural products but also requires competent technology and infrastructure to preserve and transport the cultivated and processed Agro products. The second largest industry which needs cold chain transportation is Pharmaceuticals/ Medicine Manufacturing Sector, for preserving and transporting. The cold chain practice has evolved significantly in recent decades along with the evolution of the global supply chain. The Indian cold chains market is largely untapped and several players in the unorganized sector which clues for immense investment and development opportunities. It is at a threshold of the exponential increase due to developments taking place in the food and retail industry of India.
