Plastic has many applications in various industries and this tremendous use of plastic and plastic products has created massive piles of unused or unrecycled plastic. Meanwhile, from the past few years, for maintaining the healthy ecological balance, many countries have outlawed the use of non-disposable, petroleum-based plastic. This resolution has pushed the technology further for innovating the new alternatives for the non-disposable plastic and products, which opened the doors for products like edible cutleries, bio-degradable bioplastic products, plant tissue cutleries, etc. The edible cutleries are generally produced by using the grains, millets, pulses, and can differ with size, flavor, and color. It is fitting the best alternative for plastic cutleries/ tableware when it comes to short-term use. It has a strength or holding capacity and can be used to serve both cold and hot food items. Also, the edible cutleries are dehydrated and do not contain moisture which creates a long shelf life for the products. Apart from the edibility, these cutleries are degradable or can easily decompose. Due to these properties, it is considered a prominent alternative for disposable cutlery/tableware and has promoted the demand for edible cutleries globally.
