India is considered as a motherland of the jackfruit, and it is one of the most popular fruits in India. Jackfruit is a tropical fruit packed with most essential nutrients such as; Carbohydrates, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, sodium, zinc and niacin among many other nutrients. In India, jackfruit has been majorly cultivated in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, the foothills of the Himalayas and the South Indian States of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. From which, Assam and Tripura are the major producers of the country and hold a large share of jackfruit production, and the total annual jackfruit production is estimated to be 22,25,000 tons for the year 2019. It is an affordable and readily available supplement to our staple food. Many commercial food products are produced are from jackfruits like Jackfruit Chips, Jackfruit Pickles, Jam, Dehydrated Jackfruit, baby food, and base for cordials, candies, marmalades, and ice cream. Various parts of the jackfruit tree have also been used in medicine and its wood as an important source in the timber industries. Jackfruit helps in improving the immunity, cardiovascular health, and a regulated Blood Pressure, Digestion, treating the skin diseases, prevent/control asthma. Factors like rapid urbanization, growing health consciousness of the population, rise in disposable income, etc. are helping in the development of new technologies for manufacturing/ processing value-added products and increasing the demand for the same
